THE GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES FEDERATION (State Apex organization of Govt. Employees service association) Andaman & Nicobar Islands, had organized a State level open Chess Tournament under the supervision of Andaman Nicobar Chess Association, Port Blair on 25th & 27th January 2013, in the premises of Hotel TSG Emerald View. The winners will be honoured with Medals & Certificates and the Champion will also be awarded with a trophy “GEF OPEN CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP ROLLING TROPHY”
The first edition of GEF Open Chess Tournament was inaugurated by Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Patron of Government Employees Federation by lightning the Lamps at 2.30pm in the premises of Hotel TSG Emerald View, Phoenix Bay, Port Blair on 25/1/2013 in the presence of Shri G. Bhasker, President, ANCA, Shri P. Kannan, President, Government Employees Federation, Shri K. Ganeshan, Advisor of GEF, office bearer of GEF and all Affiliated Associations Member.
A large number of participant which also include TRIBES of Andaman Islands participated in the tournament while, addressing the gathering Shri S. K. Majumdar, General Secretary, Government Employees Federation has said, that it is our first OPEN CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP ROLLING TROPHY and we shall continue this tournament every year for motivation of young generation. Shri G.Bhasker, Vice President All India Chess Federation has said that, the Government Employees Federation (GEF) has introduced first time a Chess Rolling Trophy tournament in the Chess history of Andaman & Nicobar Islands and expressed his good wishes to the participants.
The Chief Guest Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has congratulated the Office bearer of Government Employees Federation for conducting the tournament and encouraged the participants to take part enthusiastically and request the Federation to organize more such Competition and serial activities for the benefit of general public.
“Veladiction function of 1st GEF OPEN CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP ROLLING TROPHY”:
The 1st GEF Open Chess Tournament was concluded on 27.01.2013 at 1730 Hrs. in the premises of Hotel TSG Emerald View , Phoenix Bay, Port Blair. Altogether 57 participants were took part in the tournament. Shri P. Kannan, President & Chief Executive of Government Employees Federation was the chief guest on the occation. The chief guest while addressing the gathering has congratulated the prize winners and participates for taking active part in the competition and said that, this competition will be conducted every year in association with Andaman Nicobar Chess Association and assured all support & co-operation to Chess association for promoting Chess Game in the Islands. The chief guest also congratulated two Andamanee tribal boys took part in the competition.
Shri Dinesh, Chief Arbiter has declared the winners of Trophy & Prizes and express his gratitude to the Government Employees Federation for conducting such competition.

Two Consolation prize were also given to Andamanese Tribal Boys Shri Buloba and Shri Olake holding Rank 22nd and 24th respectively out of 57 participants.
Shri S. K. Majumdar, General Secretary, Government Employees Federation (Director of the Tournament) has given vote of thanks and said that, Rolling Trophy , Prizes(Medals) and certificates will be distributed in the Annual conference of GEF likely to be held soon, under intimation to all. He express his thanks and gratitude to Chief guest, all participants, Prize winners, chess lovers, office bearer of GEF, ANCA, specially to Shri G.Bhasker MD , Hotel Emerald View, for providing Hall and Shri H. Dinesh International Arbiter & Shri Sashi Kumar Arbiter. He was also thankful to others who have given valuable contribution to make the tournament a great success.
