"World Health Day" observed by Government Employees Federation, A & N Islands.



Today World Health Day.........

“WORLD HEALTH DAY” which is celebrated every April 7th  to commemorate the anniversary of the founding of World Health Organisation in 1948 and each year a theme is chosen for the Day that highlights a priority area of concern for global public health. 

The theme for 2013 is high blood pressure (Hypertension).

“WORLD HEALTH DAY” is observed during the Annual General Body meeting of Staff Car Driver Association held at Community Hall in the presence of Shri P. Kannan President, Government Employees Federation (Chief Guest of the function) and under the Chairmanship of Shri S. K. Majumdar, General Secretary of Government Employees Federation.
Shri S. K. Majumdar, General Secretary of Government Employees Federation, said Hypertension is a silent killer which has the leading risk factor for death worldwide. According to the statistical report 30% of the adult population suffers for High blood pressure. It has the risk factor for the driver of the vehicle during their driving due to stoke/heart failure. And simultaneously it will also put others life into danger which will affect the family members of the driver/victims.
He also advised the members of the association of the staff car drivers to be conscious about their health during driving by which they can save their own life, other public life as well as public property. Because loosing this will be Nation’s loss.
For prevention he informed to all the members of the association, “Every individual has the power to prevent High Blood Pressure by adopting a good balanced diet, ingesting less salt, regular exercise, avoiding harmful use of alcohol, quitting tobacco and also go for routine check up and take advice from the Doctor.
“He concluded by saying that this awareness should be spread all among us for better and safe Driving/life”.
